Affiliate Disclosure: How ProvablySmart Makes Money (Without Selling You a Fairytale)

ProvablySmart is an education-first site about provably fair verification, casino math, bankroll discipline, and promo EV. Running a site costs money (hosting, tools, time), so we use affiliate partnerships in a limited, transparent way — mainly inside Labs and sometimes in the Promos section.

This page explains exactly what that means, how we label affiliate links, and what we refuse to do. Calm, clear, no fine-print gymnastics.

What an affiliate link is (plain English)

An affiliate link is a trackable link. If you click it and sign up or make a purchase, the partner may pay us a commission. In most cases, this does not increase the price you pay. Sometimes it can unlock a promo (like a welcome bonus), but that depends on the operator’s terms — and promos are contracts, not gifts.

We treat affiliate monetization as a way to fund educational content and tools. Not as a reason to push you into gambling.

Where we place affiliate links (and where we don’t)

We don’t want the whole site to feel like a referral funnel. So we keep affiliate CTAs contained to pages where users already have commercial intent.

Our placement rule of thumb

Affiliate links may appear in: Labs pages (case studies/testbeds) and selected Promos pages where the user is actively evaluating an offer.

Affiliate links usually do NOT appear in: Learn/Math/Bankroll explainers and tool pages. Those pages are meant to be neutral “source of truth.”

If we ever break that rule for a specific reason, we label it clearly at the point of the link — not hidden in a footer.

How we label affiliate links (so you can spot them instantly)

We aim for disclosures that are obvious, readable, and placed where decisions happen — near the link or CTA — not buried in a legal wall of text.

Common labels you’ll see next to a link or CTA:

  • “Affiliate link” / “Partner link” / “We may earn a commission”
  • “Sponsored” (rare; only when content is directly sponsored)
  • “Promo terms apply” (because promos are contracts)

Our goal is simple: you should never have to guess whether a link is monetized.

Independence: what we do to avoid “affiliate brain”

The biggest risk in affiliate content is subtle: writers start protecting the partner instead of the reader. We design against that.

We separate “education” from “commercial intent”

Learn/Math/Bankroll pages focus on definitions, examples, and rules. Labs handle platform-specific observations and comparisons.

We don’t promise outcomes

No “guaranteed wins,” no “beat the casino,” no pretending RTP means break-even. Variance is short-run reality.

We don’t teach ToS-breaking tactics

No multi-accounting, no KYC bypass, no exploit talk. If a “strategy” requires deception, it’s not a strategy — it’s a ban waiting to happen.

Promos and bonuses: a special note

Bonuses can change EV, but they can also increase wagering volume (exposure) and hide traps like max cashout caps or excluded games. If we link a promo, we still want you to price the contract first.

Verification note: provably fair isn’t an “operator approval badge”

Sometimes affiliate ecosystems try to blur the lines: “provably fair” becomes shorthand for “trustworthy.” We don’t do that. Provably fair verification can help you audit randomness, but it doesn’t guarantee good odds, good terms, or good behavior off-chain.

If you want the practical verification workflow, use: How to Verify Provably Fair Bets and the Provably Fair Checklist.

Bottom line: your decision comes first

If you ever feel like a page is trying to rush you into action, step back. Our best content should slow you down and make you more deliberate. The casino already supplies urgency. You don’t need us adding to it.

If you decide to play, protect yourself with exposure controls: Bankroll Unit Calculator and the Session Rules Template.

FAQ

Does using an affiliate link cost me extra?

Typically no — affiliate tracking usually pays the publisher from the operator’s marketing budget. But pricing and promo terms can vary by region and product, so always verify the final terms on the checkout/offer page.

Do affiliate partners influence your content?

They don’t get to approve our conclusions. We design the site so education and tools stand on their own, and commercial CTAs are limited to pages where users already have commercial intent (mainly Labs).

Do you publish sponsored content?

Rarely. If we do, it’s labeled clearly as sponsored. Sponsored content still follows our safety rules (no guaranteed wins, no ToS-breaking advice) and includes responsible gambling framing.

Why do you monetize at all?

Because tools, testing, and publishing take time and money. Monetization helps keep the educational side sustainable — but we keep it contained and disclosed so it doesn’t distort the mission.

Is this financial or legal advice?

No. This site provides educational information and practical decision tools. Gambling involves risk, and outcomes are uncertain. If you need legal or financial advice, consult a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.

Responsible Gambling note

Affiliate links or promos should never be a reason to gamble. If gambling stops being fun, if you’re chasing losses, or you’re betting money you can’t afford to lose, pause and get support. Resources are here: Responsible Gambling.
